The ‘International Short Film Festival Detmold’ is dedicated to high-quality short films by independent filmmakers from Germany and around the world.

Every year we receive more than 3.000 submissions from over eighty countries.

The film festival focuses on non-commercial short films. The films come from the categories documentary, animation, experimental and fiction.

Accessible film enjoyment

Everyone has the right to participate in cultural life.

That's why the 20th International Short Film Festival Detmold 2024 has the motto ‘Films for everyone’ - and offers the opportunity to watch and listen to films without barriers.

Selected film blocks will be made accessible for people with visual impairments through audio descriptions - and for the deaf through subtitles.
